Tutorial by Mary Ellen Carter for PSP 7

1.  Begin by opening a transparent image 200 X 250.

2.  Using Selection Tool  set on Circle (Antialias checked... and Feather set on "0") draw a circle just a little below center of image.

3.  Floodfill with HTML color #E4A316.

4. Go to Selection>Modify>Contract and set pixels to 20. After clicking OK click on Delete key to erase middle of circle.

5.  Using Magic Wand click on gold ring.  Go to Effect>3D>Inner Bevel with settings as shown below

6.  Add new layer.  With Selection tool set on Ellipse, draw an ellipse above the circle.  Floodfill with same gold color and apply Inner Bevel on same settings as for ring.(See Figure A.)  Deselect and with Mover tool move ellipse on top edge of circle then move Layer 2 below Layer 1.(See Figure B.)

                                           FIG. A                                                       FIG. B

7.  Copy Layer 2.  Paste as New Layer.  Resize that layer only to 75%.  Move that layer beneath Layer 2 and position it as shown (behind and a little above other ellipse.)

8.  Copy Layer 1 (the ring), paste as new layer.  Resize that layer only to 25%.  Move this layer behind Layer 3 and position as shown.

Now Save Your Work.   I recommend that you save as a tube.  To do this go to File>Export>Picture Tube and put in these settings.  Be sure to name your file.

By doing this you will have the hard part done and can make numerous ornaments.

Now.... Lets get to the fun part and decorate.

9.  Use the Magic Wand and click on the center of the circle. Then Floodfill with your choice of background color (I used white).  Do not deselect.

10.  Go to Effect>Texture Effects>Texture  and use the following settings:

11. Now open  your favorite Christmas gif and copy it, then  paste as new layer onto background.  You may use this one to experiment with if you like:

12.Go again to Effects>Texture Effects>Texture with the same settings as before and apply to this layer.

Your cross stitch ornament is now complete.  Enjoy doing a lot of them and decorating a tree.
